When I played Alphadia Genesis 2 years ago, I thought then that the Giga Energi Dragon was my favorite monster among all the Kemco games I've played (over 20 games). I've been replaying it now, and my view hasn't changed. My criteria for a great monster: it must be beatable, but require some trial and error to find the right tactics, and the battle should be uncertain and close. Also, it is a bonus if the appropriate tactics are not the same used for other tough monsters. For example, the Arctic Cosplayer (aka "Penguin") in the "secret" arena in Alphadia Genesis may require a couple of defeats before you develop the winning technique. However, that technique, at least mine, is rock solid and should win every time. Consequently, I don't put Penguin on my list of favorite monsters.
The Alphadia Genesis Giga Dragons (Giga Energi Dragon, Giga Dragon Lord, Giga Blue Dragon) are all tough and provide a challenge. (I believe there is also an "Arch Dragon" but I haven't yet seen it.) With the exception of the "cowardly" tactic (described in a spoiler below), the winning methods I found still require a fair amount of luck. In fact, I'd say the dragons still win about 60% of the time, so there are probably better strategies I haven't found. The Giga Dragon Lord and the Giga Blue Dragon appear frequently in their "home" territory; the Giga Energi Dragon seems much more rare. (See my map--Giga Dragon Lord is on Dragon Island, and Giga Blue Dragon is on Metal Gelatin Island.) Anyway, here are my battle tactics. The Coward's Tactic
Strap on your suicide belts, and give your party an 80% change to be victorious. Yes, if everybody has Roulette Death, and enough speed that your turn comes before the dragon's, you have an 80% chance to defeat the dragon. Certainly the battle will only take one turn!! as either you win or blow yourself up. I call it cowardly, even though my "heroic" tactic does call for party members to "take one (or more) for the team" as they undergo death/revival cycles. Winning isn't everything.

The Dragon uses lethal non-energi attacks, so the "Penguin" strategy will not be successful here. (The Penguin tactic is in a separate topic because I don't consider him a major monster.)
Your approach here is to stay alive while you whittle away HP until you can kill the dragon with a single blow, either Omegadia or Grande's "Explosive Slash." How to stay alive is the tough part.
I assume everybody gets a turn before Dragon, and everybody has Ghast Shock, Revive All, and Stardust Holy.
1. Everybody in the BACK ROW
2. Not required, but consider Hero's Plate for Grande
3. First turn Perfect Up, Ghast Shock, Ghast Shock, then last Corone's Guardiana (probably on Enah)
It is possible here that both Fray and Grande can survive first turn, which really helps.
From here on, you need to manage the situation making sure that Corone ALWAYS protects somebody. Use Revive All when it is needed (and it will be). You probably will not need to Restore All (as much as you can), but the right moment for its use might occur. That's what is interesting here, as the situation is fluid depending on the dragon's turn. If it hits only one character, your choices are different than if you have only one character alive. And if you get lucky and the dragon wastes a turn attacking your protected character, or debuffing your (non-existent) power-ups, you will probably win the battle. You might have to use Holy Sacrifice, but that is a desperate measure. Once Ghast Shock hits for less than 99999, then you know you are only a turn or two away from victory. You might get excited, only to discover that your planned final blow lacks the SP needed, and you might have bet too much on that one shot and left yourself vulnerable to annihilation. So be careful, get lucky, and enjoy the contest.
Thanks for the tips 1oldtymer. I like your writing style a lot (I never get tired of reading your strategies or reviews, because of the "anticipation" I feel as I get closer to the end...) :cheer:
On a replay of the game when I was at max levels, the battle against the Giga Energi Monster was easy.
1. Everybody in back row.
2. First acting character casts Perfect Up.
3. Smash with Shine Bolt every turn (or first one time something like Flare Fury which lowers MND and DEF).
4. If you like one time Fog Pump, but not needed.
5. Just continue smashing with Shine Bolt.....2 turns probably.
And that's a lesson in the pitfalls of grinding to max...the thrill is gone.
What is a thrill for you, is agonizing anxiety for me. So, your max-stat strat is perfect for me! I'm going to "favorite" that post just in case I ever tackle AG again. Thanks!

The Arch Dragon is an optional world map boss on the island south of Grimm's Cave, and beating him gives 200 AGP (as opposed to 100 AGP from each of the other three world map optional bosses). I'm not sure when the player is supposed to fight him; he was easy at level 99.
I was level 99 and grinding out maximum elemental ranks on metal slime island when I met Mr. Giga Blue Dragon. It was an adventure.
I started by using Walter's Breezing Curtain to buff everyone's DEF and MND two ranks, and I debuffed the Giga Blue Dragon's MND by one rank. He one-shot the entire team with his dragon breath. It hit some members for 10,000-ish and others for 9000-ish, in a game where the maximum player HP is 9999.
I retried the battle and resolved not be so sloppy. On the second try, I always kept his MND debuffed by two ranks. Most of my attacks were barely moving his health bar, although I noticed that Ghast Shock hit him for 99,999. The battle promised to be long and tough... and then I thought, if Ghast Shock works, then maybe other stuff that doesn't affect bosses could work.
I used Fire Change to turn his element to Fire, then hit him repeatedly with Aqua Impact, which can swoon non-boss enemies that are weak to water. After a few tries he keeled over.
