Finally mustered up the gumption to put in the work to beat the postgame boss and get the True Ending. Mainly involved me grinding on Metal Gelatin Island (where I found out that the dragon super-boss that appears there is a pretty rare encounter -- I ran into him the very first battle of the very first time I stepped foot there, but never saw him again) and then going through old dungeons to get ultimate weapons.

Playing on Easy and doing this grinding...

1. MOST of the weapon-holding bosses were fairly easy. The one I beat to get Fray's weapon was tough because I fought it before doing the grinding and it has an attack which I believe (if I remember correctly) casts the "x number of turns until death" spell on all party members. The only other one that gave me trouble was, funnily enough, the very last one I fought. The one to get Grande's weapon is a golem-type enemy that the computer LOVES to give multiple consecutive attacks, so it can do a number on you quickly with Mow Down and other tough abilities.

2. The Self-Proclaimed Maid was hilariously easy, but the dialogue involving her fight and its conclusion was great "breaking the 4th wall" stuff, with talk about how all the stuff she gives you was originally for another game and the repercussions of doing that.

3. The postgame boss is tough no matter what you do, I think. Playing on Easy, while at L84 for my party, it was still a long fight where I was glad to have multiple ways to bring characters back from death. The main thing that will decimate you is her love of casting Minimum 2, which shrinks all members of your party for a random number of turns. A shrunken character is much weaker both offensively and defensively, so when she starts spamming her other attacks (and she often will get 2-3 straight turns), they'll take obscene amounts of damage. I was really glad I'd been using Walter all game. His "FF Dragoon"-like jumping attacks kept him off the screen a couple times when she cast Minimum 2 and one of those times led to a collection of attacks that left him as my only living guy. It was a bit rough coming back from that -- good thing the best resurrection spell also gives the person being brought back an immediate turn, instead of having to wait.

Twas a solid time. Time to finish off Fanatic Earth now.
