When Should I Grind?

You have a choice about when you want to travel to Metal Gelatin Island to do your heavy duty grinding. In this game you have more players than slots in your party, so somebody "sits on the bench." The bench characters do gain experience and levels in parallel with your party, but they do NOT get any increase in the energi skills. This means you will need to decide who sits on the bench, but fortunately you can, at some later time, change your party around andgrind with the bench players if you wish.

If you grind when some players might not be available to you (a feature of the game), you can make yourself so powerful that the remaining dungeons will be a breeze. Of course if you enough money, you can purchase monster repellent and perhaps speed through the dungeons, but not quite so easily. If you choose this path, you will be forced, should you wish to bring bench players into your party,to grind again. In theory it is more efficient to grind with as many players at once as possible, so you will have some extra work if you need to go through the grinding more often than necessary.

The good news: if you have the right accessories, etc., grinding on the island is very fast. It took me about 15 minutes to bring my
entire party of 4 from 150 to 175 in their energi skills. So even if you are not efficient, the extra time will not be a large burden.
