Hey, with some of those bonus bosses, 44 days isn't that far off the mark... And with Crystareino back when I played it, I went through the whole game three times (once for fun, once to write the walkthrough, once more to proofread the walkthrough), and I still couldn't beat him, so I certainly have no room to criticize.

(I had thought about some kind of smart aleck remark, though, but I prefer to err on the side of caution with new members.)

I BEAT GOVA!!!

YIPPIE!!!

(Actually it wasn't hard once I decided to just farm 100s of Fruit of Vitality from the Adventurer's Cave. Anyway, my strategy's below.)

Tip: For maximum impact, put Rudee in your party. Also, grab a box of tissues before you fight Gova - the ending scene literally made me wanna bawl my eyes out. (I have to say, for pure emotional impact, Crystareino, Chrome Wolf, and the first Alphadia are probably top on my list now.)
First, you need to use the Points Shop. Since you earn 1 CRP for every 5 enemies defeated, you should be using the Points Shop all along. But before you fight Gova, you want to get 2 of the Battle God Crests, and 2 Bad Religion's Crests.

Party Selection: I used the main Hero (obviously), Stacia, Rudee, and Niecks. Train Hero and Niecks up to God of Battle so they can use Adamantine Fist, and train Stacia and Rudee through Holy Knight and then to Sage, so they have the magic attack/healing bonus from Sage, and they have Sparkling Ray from Holy Knight.

Give the Battle God Crests to Hero and Niecks, and Bad Religion to Rudee and Stacia. These bonuses will make Sparlking Ray and Adamantine Fist both at least 2x stronger than usual.

Before you face Gova, find Leon's sword in the Frozen Mountain Path screens in the Crystal World. This sword will let you use a skill that lowers ALL of Gova's stats.

When you start the battle, lower Gova's stats, and use skills to raise your party's DEF and MDF, at least. Then spam Adamantine Fist and Sparlking Ray, and have Rudee use All Full-Cura whenever needed.

I had my whole group in the 80's, and I had literally farmed probably 2-300 Fruit of Vitality from the Adventurer's Cave, and this battle took me about four rounds. So it's likely that you could beat him at lower levels, as long as you're able to heal regularly and to keep lowering Gova's stats whenever the effects wear off.

Yay for you. Makes life worth living. Or at least games worth playing.

And that's how it's done! More or less. I guess there are a number of ways to beat Gova.
I didn't use Rudee, I stuck with the same crew (Hero, Niecks, Damia, Yuni) throughout except when someone was foisted upon us. Definitely need Leon's Sword. Other stuff seems to be somewhat optional. We also did a lot of grinding in the Tower of Darkness and the Adventurer's cave. A lot of grinding. Partly to get exp to 99, partly for CRP and partly to build each PM in every class to 100% so that we would have the best possible skills. ....A lot of grinding. Takes patience.

In the end, it was the right equipment, skills, items, and brute force.
