I have to fool with a couple of the puzzles to unlock the last optional boss ("King of Emptiness") and then I'm done.[/quote]
:cheer: Finished! Narrowly defeated, on "Normal" (the weakest) setting, the BIG boss, the King of Emptiness. In my review I note that there is no difficulty setting for the game, and that is correct, but for this one boss there are 3 settings for the battle. I was underleveled, but had a decent strategy that I would improve next time around. Whew.. .several times down to one man standing.... You do get the best reward in the game, the Lapus Lazuli, but of course if you can beat this monster, you don't need anything more.
All significant subquests completed, the optional big bosses defeated, and everything of interest finished. I may repeat that last battle with some slight changes to see if I can get lucky and maybe do a little better.

I finally did some grinding--about 50 minutes. Then I went back with a small tactical change and once again battled the King of Emptiness. This time around none of my characters hit the canvas, and only came close on the King's final turn when he threw his toughest punch. So it was a solid victory, and the change in tactics was a good one. The bad: NO REWARD!! Cheap.

Here is another way to see how the post game increases stats and improves your performance. In the normal game, it took me 26 turns to beat the special boss. I had done almost no grinding, and didn't have high power weapons. After going through the post game and getting better weapons, and with about an hour of grinding, I was able to defeat that same boss in 13 turns. So I cut the number of turns in half. B)
