Since I decided to start this one after finishing Rusted Emeth in my "I have over 25 of these games on my tablet, so might as well pick whichever one sounds most interesting at any given time" method of attempting to clear my backlog.
The premise was the most interesting thing to me, with this game kind of being a take on those "mismatched buddy-cop" films I've enjoyed over the years. It hasn't let me down. While the dialogue still is kind of in Exe-Create's "really verbose and sort of awkward" zone, it's not as bad as in Alphadia or Alphadia Genesis and is pretty witty at times. The issues generally are that every once in a while, there's a line that just doesn't feel like natural speech.
This game is dialogue-heavy, but that's not much of an issue, as I'm enjoying the plot and the setting of a post-apocolyptic futuristic city is a great change-of-pace from the typical "fantasy-land" setting of these RPGs. I love the addition of the mini-map for dungeons, as that makes it a bit easier to find my way without getting back-tracked, as could happen in some of the larger ones in AG.
The only main issue I have is that the camera is zoomed out a lot compared to other games. It's not so bad when you're just walking in dungeons, as it helps you see your surroundings a bit better (although the mini-map does that already). But in battles, it means you have a lot of small sprites that aren't particularly impressive graphically. Which is too bad, as the actual character portraits are well done. Take the buddy cop theme and make all the characters look like refugees from a David Bowie video = GENIUS!
In short: about 5 hours in and fun so far. Not perfect, but fun.
