I'm replaying Symphony of the Origin in order to update the walkthrough section for this game (and to kill time, while waiting for the May release that we know won't come out before Japan's national holiday that goes through May 5...)
I'm playing on Hard difficulty (which is the one I recommend for this game; Normal makes it feel WAY TOO EASY.)
Even on Hard, you can Auto almost every random encounter if you want to (although on Auto, your characters will often use your most valuable potions, so if you want to save those for Bosses, Auto is bad.)
However, once you get to about the third or fourth Boss in the game, these battles start to get more difficult. (Still not crazy impossible, but just hard enough that you can take the time to formulate a strategy, if you want.) Of course you can also just wail on the Boss with whatever, and keep using Heal or potions until it's over, but either way these battles are a lot of fun compared to most Kemco games.
