ok, i had the one on one battle but the next one, I assume the last, is super hard. any hints? maybe I am under levelled in the high 30s and low 40s?? this is after beating astar with ONLY Leck. after that battle I am now on a huge battle field with tons of fire ball, reapers, etc. and they crush me. like I said it is a huge difficulty spike so I assume it is the last battle.
Recently beaten since April 1: Sephirothic Stories (android, kemco), Soulblazer (snes, arpg), Seek hearts (android, kemco), Super Metroid (snes), Legend of Tetrarchs (android, kemco), Castlevania 4 (snes), Actraiser (snes), Demons Crest (snes, platformer), Holy Umbrella (snes, platformer), Arcana (snes rpg)

Yep youre underleveled. the first time i went through this game my party was around late 50's. I recommend to do all the sidequests since some of em will give you the best equipment as a reward. Don't try to leveling all of your characters. Pick some of them that you think will be useful and keep using them.
As for strategy you should move all you units to the edge of the map. Wait for the enemies to come to you and focus fire one enemy at a time. Position your bulky characters in the front. As your enemies targeting them use your mages and archer to whittle down their HP. The flying imp enemies are bulky and dangerous since they can do critical hit pretty often and this usually mean one of your mages is dead. Use arm break or any similar skill on them and ignore them and focus on the wisp or the reaper if they are in range. The reapers can use AOE heal but the wisp thingy is more dangerous since thay can use AOE magic skill to rekt your bulky characters. I'm using estelle and nami for healing magic. Estelle is espescially useful since she can heal and she has good defensive stats physically and magically. I also use Rudy the bard guy for spamming healing items from miles away thx to one of his passive skill. Dont forget to stock up on HP, MP and revival items before the fight!!

I beat it on Tuesday night so I did not see this in time but that is what I did.
It looks like I was still under levelled
Leck 48
Tetolla 47
melissa 47
rogwalk 48
evie 48
rudy 44
estelle 45
kane 48
yoshua 47
namie 39
I beat the game with those levels. I did exactly what you described above, it seems, moving back to the edge and than to the corner. The flying imps are key but those devil things that can heal groups for 600 HP are also a must to take out especially with such a lack of fire power like in my case.. The gray fireball things can be taken out by a Grand hit from Kane or killer claw from yoshua and if needed, a bow from Rudy. I almost died with that line up, listed above. When I was in the corner, I was down to 4 characters and one of those was namie (yikes) another was rogwalk and than I also had Leck with half of his Hp left and Rudy. I somehow pulled it out though despite being quite literally on the brink. I do not use the word often, but it was indeed an epic battle probably lasting at least 45 minutes, I would guess, or more. That battle was a perfect example of WHITTLE. I literally did just that (whittle) for the entire battle and had just enough healing items to eventually turn the tide of battle to my favor.
Any way, yes, the tide very slowly turned and I was able to slowly move forward after taking out everything that flew around me. I inched forward and took out the fireball things around Astar. By the time I was surrounding him I had the upper hand and just one of those devil healer things in the corner was left. I got a critical "last claw" for like 4700 which helped a lot and a few grand hits landed because those tended to miss at least 1/3rd of the time for me. I brought yoshua back with my last revive and he did another last claw before dying on the counter but brough astars HP below 500...but I needed that because I was without healing items at that point. Astar has a lot of HP! Only Yoshua ended up being dead by the time I won, but he was the true MVP, along with rogwalk for somehow being one of my last four (despite having just over 800 HP) and using many of those flame spells and ragnaroks, the second of which saved my hide when cornered and down to 4 characters. truly an intense final battle.
But any way, that was super hard. If I had to describe that battle, I would say "The epic whittle". Very scrappy battle.
Yes, characters need to be at least level 50, I would think, all of them, to avoid that kind of slog.
Good game overall, got ending two if anyone wants to see a screen shot.

I liked ending two!
mmmm...You could try Helium to backup your saves and apps but you need to pay 4.99, about, for the "pro" version or whatever which allows you to download that save data onto another device. I am not sure if it works as I have not used it or have not had the need to try that feature yet.
