I mean, the day I did the change I also put a note in the front page, but I do guess no one reads it either way... I also put a note on the registration page, but I guess it's not linked anywhere either.

So not sure where a "prominent display" would be :)

I read everything new that is posted (except SPAM); I think the issue is that the note is barely visible when person scrolls down (on mobile) as the first time I passed the main screen I would probably miss it if I did not pay attention.

But, it completely prevents SPAM on site which is great ;)

The other issue I noticed is it is squished inbetween ads for people that did not register yet.. So non-registered users will most likely want to scroll past the note as fast as they can.

I’ve turned off new registration. I have no idea when I’ll enable it again, so on the meanwhile, anyone seeking a new account should email their intended username to this site’s support email and I’ll try to get it set up within 48 hours or so.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Just for curiosity, in August (when registration was disabled), the register page was the most accessed page of the entire site, with over 9,600 accesses that month.

In September, with registration disabled... It remained the most accessed page, with 9,571 accesses, even if the page literally only says registration is suspended.

This month, Forums finally became the most accessed page, but registration is still in second place with over 4,500 accesses already, and strongly contending to hit the 9k+ accesses mark again.

So this is just an update to inform that there are currently no plans to re-enable site registrations given the bots haven't given up yet. (For reference, the usual in the past months where there wasn't hordes of spam bots trying to register was 4,000~5,000 accesses to registration page, still ranking #2 or #3 most accessed page. This mark was already hit and we're not even in the middle of the month yet!)
