Ok, I gotta give it up to 1oldtymer, because if he hadn't brought up the Undead Gem, I never would have used it and would not have found this strategy:
Once you complete Sub Quest 14, you get 2 Undead Gems. The description is such:
"Cannot be incapacitated by attack damage. However, 25% chance to be incapacitated on your turn."
What this means is that the enemy's "attack" cannot kill you! At worst it can only reduce your HP to 1.
The only way you can die with an Undead Gem equipped is through the 25% chance, or through something like Instant Death or Countdown. (Poison might still kill you; I haven't been poisoned since I started using these gems, so I don't know...)
Now, if you only had one, the 25% chance of auto death would be enough to discourage its use (because if you die, then it's game over.) But with two, the odds of two party members both dying on the same turn is low - which means if one of them does die, the other can resurrect them.
Which means that 95% of the time - you cannot die in battle!
I tested this against the Boss on the 70th Floor of Hell. My party is at Level 181, and at that level, the boss annihilated Caine and Lilith on the first turn. But, he could not kill Julie and Fleon, and with their Paladin skills, I beat the boss in just a few rounds. (On Easy mode, but hey, you do what you gotta do....) :silly:
So, insane mad props to 1oldtymer.
(And thanks for getting me obsessed with beating the Guild Hero - I literally can't put the game down now!)
