Falcom huh? Ive played some of their games with my fave being Ys1+2, Xanadu and Trails in The sky. Im also interested with trails of cold steel too. I heard that game is amazing.
Theyve been making games for quite along time, but if i recalled correctly none of their games went outside japan before xseeds started to publish their games for western audience with gagharv trilogy in 2006(?)

I think you're right, this is from their wikipedia page:
"Nihon Falcom Corporation (日本ファルコム株式会社 Nihon Farukomu Kabushiki-kaisha?) is a Japanese video game company. The company was founded in March 1981 by Masayuki Kato. Falcom has played a definite role in the growth and development of the Japanese personal computer software industry. The company released one of the first Japanese role-playing video games in 1983 and followed with real-time action and adventure games as well as games with fully developed soundtracks. They are credited with pioneering the action role-playing game genre[1] and the Japanese role-playing game industry,[2][3] and remain one of the oldest role-playing game developers still in existence today.[3]"
I would have swore the name sounded familiar to me but I suppose I could've confused it with Capcom (I have a really, really bad memory!)
But it sounds like as gamers, we owe Falcom a debt of gratitude for their part in shaping the rpg industry.
P.S. I just bought Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (First Chapter) from Steam last week when it was 50% off. It looks really awesome! Also I've seen a Ys game on Google Play but, knowing nothing about the series, I didn't know if that particular version is any good?

That version is a port of the DS/Psp version. I personaly like the steam version a bit more because the interface feels more "classic." Then again you can play the playstore version practically everywhere. Other than that theyre essentialy the same game.
A bit of warning though. The steam version is a package of Ys1&2 while the google playstore version you have to buy them separately.
Ys1 ended with a cliffhanger. So if you want full experience you also have to buy Ys2.
Btw you also should have bought Trails in the sky SC when it was on sale. Because FC

Well (avoiding spoiler for FC), I only bought the one because I wanted to try out a couple of different games. I'm sure I'll pick up SC eventually, maybe around Christmas time (whether it's on sale then or not.)
But my main focus right now has to be on site expansion, which means I may not even get into FC until August/September (since I doubt I'll be the type who can just play for an hour here and there, I'll want to make sure I have plenty of free time available before I start this game)
EDIT: The sale prices on Steam were only good through July 4. (Summer Sale) Though Steam usually has several sales throughout the year, so if you're the patient type, watch for the next one and maybe these games will be on sale again!

Oh gosh, Trails in the Sky seems appealing to me since I like SRPGs. I've played the Langrisser series and Final Fantasy Tactics before
Hmm.... is this game only available on PC? I'm using a Windows 10 tablet, but I've problems with this tablet since an installed updates a couple of months before. I can't browse on Chrome and Firefox, and client apps aren't able to connect to server or having connectivity issues. I installed Steam and GOG client apps and tried connecting, but to no avail. Seems like I've to send my tablet for repair or reset/re-install Win10 before I can play client-app based PC games.

I'm playing the Steam version on my pc. Windows 10, fairly new top of the line Dell pc. It works great.
I am roughly 8 to 9 hours into the game. It's definitely unique, it's very well crafted, I would dare say it's as good as a Final Fantasy (maybe even better than some of them; I wasn't all that impressed with FF5.)
I only bought the first one; Steam also has Trails in the Sky Second Chapter and they're both on sale at the moment.
EDIT: I don't know about the Windows tablet; I've never owned one so I don't know how they work.
