This is Normal difficulty on the 3DS version. I never bothered with any of the arena stuff.
Getting the Normal End took about 26 hours. Getting the True End (the player gets to choose one of two true endings) with all sidequests complete took about 42 hours. Journey to Kreisia requires replaying the game with carried-over levels to earn the True End; there's some bonus cutscenes and dialogue in the replay.
Finishing all sidequests before earning the True End adds a special bonus ending cutscene. It's worth the effort.
Although I enjoyed Journey to Kreisia's gameplay, it's my favorite game primarily because of its story. The story is far from perfect; it was the Normal End that made the narrative memorable, so much that I genuinely wanted to replay the game and earn the True End.
