This whole game's story was a word salad. Not worth trying to understand it.

I tried to understand the story. Apparently, all the people in the world are born from a tree named Sephiroth. Love and romance exist, but not as a way to have children.

Also, the murk has spread far and wide, and transformed most of the world's people into monsters. Harold's home village hasn't succumbed yet because of the fairies' protection, and that's weakening over time.

Sephirothic Stories actually has an apocalypse setting, sort of like Revenant Saga only with less violence and more greenery.

I broke the game by putting all stat-boosters on one character (Izzy). It took 16 hours to beat the game and all sidequests; 18 hours to earn all the Playstation trophies. Some sidequests involve puzzles or run-and-dodge gauntlets. I got confused or stuck on certain puzzles or run-and-dodge challenges, which substantially lengthened the game completion time. Sephirothic Stories is ultra-short if the player skips the sidequests.

Sephirothic Stories is one of Exe-Create's weakest games, in both story and gameplay. There's no Arena, and no optional content other than grinding out trophies or doing the 20 sidequests.

I don't regret playing Sephirothic Stories, mostly because I like Izzy. Playable lizard people are rare in RPGs. The playable catgirl Tabitha is pretty cool too.

I did the same thing, except on Harold.  We one hit almost every boss, and even the final boss did not even get a turn.
