One thousand apologies - but I have finally got back around to the Library, and now have the correct information:

In order to recruit whichever one is left over, you need to have the Sylvan Talisman, which is in fact in the Library.

However - in order to access the treasure in the Library, you must have the Archives Key, which is in the Desert Castle.

So, you don't have to finish the Volcano - but you do have to be able to fly (so, you can get everything you need any time after finishing the Wind Tower).

thanks! finnaly i get midori in my party

...after reading your post..i went to the dessert castle and searching out here ans there...dont know why - but i apparently missed out the path leading to the desert key which is the key item to obtain archieve keys. Finnaly done clearing all seal and beaten dragon lord once. Havent finished the dungeon beside the temple town though.
