how to play expert mode

i wanna try to finish ruinverse for a second time in expert mode but im having a hard time cause i cant boost the stats of all my characters the arena system is not the same as the other games its hard to earn shama coina do i have do i like grind x3 to 4 levels just to beat a boss on a certain quest timeline all help will be appreciated thanks sorry its my first time time trying expert mode in these type of games
