Okay guys. One more thing--sorry!

I actually need a whole bunch of "large iron ore" for a request, a weapon and some armour.

I'm hoping for a request that gives this away as an award so I can buy it from the shops. I have currently checked all my requests and do not have any quests that give large iron ore away as a reward. So my question is: When and how do the witches give out more requests?

Do you have to complete a certain amount of requests before more become available or something?

Answer to your first post:
Actually no, you do not need to upgrade his armor per se. His defense is very high, second to Taurus, in this aspect. Actually Rooselevy has Self Buff skills, that is also one of the few thing the armor doesnt need upgrade. Ofcourse if you do give him top notch armor, his defense will be on par or even more than that of Taurus.

Answer to second post:
As Far as I remember Large Iron can only be farmed. That is why it is always found in like Mid Level Dungeons.
Witches Give more request on completion of story missions and ofcourse if all prior requests all done( Not all but majority ). So advance through the story so that more witches request get unlocked.

On the subject of armor:

I never bothered about any beast's defense, but - giving them armor raises their PRT level (which if I remember correctly stands for Protection Level). A higher PRT level means the beast will absorb more damage dealt to your character. (So your character takes less.)

Different armor/accessories add different effects to your beasts. I don't know how much of a difference it makes, but I equipped each of the beasts I use with Guard Bangles and Chain Mail. Each Guard Bangle adds +6 PRT, and so does Chain Mail. Higher level armor also only adds +6, but some of it has other effects, like raising all element resistance.

I also gave each one a Feather Amulet, which gives PRT +3, but also raises their Agility by 50 points.

I'm sure there are better combinations of weapons, armor, accessories, to equip on your beasts. (They can actually equip any item in your inventory.) I just never got around to really experimenting with it all.

Actually, you can unlock Large Iron Ore in the Supplies Shop. You'll get a request in Vaneisha Village to collect 15 pieces, and then it's available for purchase. I just don't know when this one unlocks.

In the meantime, one of the requests in Ensen Hamlet is for collecting 10 pieces of Iron Ore. The reward for this one is 1 piece of Large Iron Ore.

You can "Take On" this request as many times as you want, so if you find (or buy) 10 pieces of Iron Ore, you can easily trade up. (So if you need it right away for crafting, this is one way to get it.)

There are a few other requests later on, where the reward is a Material that you can never buy in the shop - but at least it's one more way to get the Material without having to farm for it.

Hi guys! :)

Okay thanks for that tip with the beasts!

I actually found the quest that lets iron ore be sold in the shop. I just didn't look properly the first time. But now I've found it and completed it. B)

Thanks for your lengthy and detailed replies by the way. So much passion!

There's two more things that occurred to me whilst playing this game:

1) Are there any reviving spells or items (such as phoenix down) in case a charcter gets KO'd?

2) I'm currently using a three man party: Kline, Alia and Paula. Is it worth it grinding up the skills and equipment for the other characters so that I can use them? I'd rather not, as that would be rather tedious.

Alia gets Reviving Spells later in game(Letz also has a reviving spell) . As for items they are available at the items shop.( This game requires more of a Phoenix Pinion than a Pheonix Down lol )

You should upgrade other characters skills aswell. Later on, in the final area Kline can become Obsolete because of his dark nature and all enemies being dark elemental aswell. But that doesn't mean his skills shouldnt be upgraded. He will be helpful alot in the 3rd playthrough bosses. So upgrade everyones skills. Not all skills are to be upgraded, just the ones you need. Ho to the walkthrough section and you can see which skills should be given priority.

There is a Reviving Potion in the Supplies Shop, but it only restores 500 HP, so by the time you actually want to use it, it's not so good...

There's also a meteorite - Reviving Breath Stone - that has Resurrection and All-Resurrection. This one grows in power as you level up the skills. I don't know if it's available at the start of the game, or if you have to wait until after you complete the Holy Place. Also Alia's Reviving skills are quite powerful.

For upgrading other characters... In my opinion you can beat almost every boss with some combination of Kline, Alia, Fred and Paola.

Fred has the best Agility, so he always gets the first turn - but he has low Magic, so using Cure or attack spells is not a great option. (Using potions is good though - also he can use buffs/debuffs usually before the enemy gets a turn.) Plus a lot of the late bosses, Fred can steal an Elixir from.

Alia and Paola with Light magic are both quite powerful in the final parts of the game. You can also equip Kline with a fully-leveled Repulsing Light Stone, and give him Light magic that way - or use Ghost-wail Slash which is still a pretty strong physical attack.

Although, honestly the game is long enough (especially if you do all the witch requests), that mastering every skill for every character is actually possible. But crafting all max-level gear is not practical - it just takes too long to get all the Materials that only drop from enemies.

But the only +5 max-level weapon you really need is Kline's Ragnarok.

Your main party should all get the best armor you can craft, but it doesn't have to be max-level +3 if it's too hard to get all the drops. Vil and Anne just need something above average.
