It looks like we have to beat this game not once or twice, but thrice, then we can fully enjoy the game. At a certain point of the game the storyline splits into three paths (three ccharacter stories). At the beginning we can play one of two stories (after the split they're different, although very similar), and the third one unlocks after we will see the previous two endings. The last one is also longer than the previous two. Although I just started the third playthrough, and did not beat it, I can say that the previous paths explain pretty a lot about the characters, and their motives. For example why that edited by MSG guy acts like he acts.
While the first playthrough is pretty hard at times, the subsequent ones are pretty easy. This is because we keep our equipment (legendary weapons/armour and special souls), so we don't have to grind at all. During the second playthrough it took me just like 5 minutes, probably even less, to beat the main boss.
Below I attached some screens. They all are spoilers, so beware.
The third ending is about Arioch, it probably tells who/what he really is. We sure get a lot of info about that in the previous endings, and we can assemble them into a fair story, but the definite answers probably are given there.
As for IAP, the game itself is pretty generous with the free premium currency. Not to mention that each time we beat an ending or a challenge boss, we got a premium soul from the Shop for free, so there isn't much to buy in there. Myself I would suggest buying one or two Original Souls. With them everything will be much easier.
Because of your posts on the third ending, I went back to this game. I think the first two endings left me with a "meh" feeling about the game, but with nothing else to do (thanks to no new android game), I played the third ending...and wow...it was totally worth it! My opinion of the game went up considerably. And now my bestiary is 100%.

Ok you guys've got my interest. I'm just now planning (fingers crossed) to change the site over before Thanksgiving, so sometime in the next 30 days or so. And I've still got a lot of behind-the-scenes work I need to do to make that happen, but perhaps when I'm done I'll try to write a location walkthrough for Soul Historica, including all three endings (but no spoilers on the third end, since I imagine it has to be something pretty spectacular...)
Of course, IF a new game drops, then Historica will just have to wait a little longer...
P.S. Just to confirm, the Amazon Underground version of this game does include free IAP - though as Nemo mentioned, it's pretty to easy to earn it in-game. Still, if you want to be super OP at the start of the game and unlock everything in the Shop, Amazon Underground is the way to go:
I'm at the tower of heaven, first play through. I picked Eris because red hair was annoying the heck out of me. I wanted to do the bonus dungeons before I beat the game, but I have no idea where they are.
