Ads not showing

I get the "loading" bar for the ads, then it waits near the end of the bar a few seconds, then asks if I want to continue. Ads never show, if my party dies, I don't immediately refight, but instead get sent back in time a bit. Is that what should happen?

I didn't play this game (yet) but in a few other games that have ads (and are offline) it was happening as well. I'm not sure what causes ads to not show (Note that if the game doesn't need Internet to play and you can cut off your phone from Internet then ads won't show up or they'll be a quick skippable ad (Like some KEMCO games). But I don't know why ads don't work when you're playing while being online.
