Learning Skills

Ok, I played this game well over a year ago, so I'm fuzzy on a lot of the details. I took notes on it though, but unfortunately I can't find them now!
Anyway, one of our members mentioned they're playing this game so I just want to put a quick note here about learning skills.
The only way to gain a new skill in this game is to "learn" it from a monster. Or more exactly, from a "monster type." For example, some skills can be learned from Plant type monsters. So, in an encounter with any Plant-type monster, there's a chance to learn that specific skill.
Now here's the really cool or really lame part of this game, depending on how you feel about it.
The only way to revive a character after their KO'd is to either go to an Inn, or use the revive skill (I don't remember exactly what it's called, so maybe someone who's currently playing can help with that?) The thing is, you have to learn the revive skill before you can use it.
So, until you learn the revive skill, the only way to revive a KO character is to go to an Inn.
Personally, I liked this little feature. It made the game incredibly challenging up until the point that I finally learned the revive skill, and once I did it seemed like a real accomplishment. -- However, it did get annoying sometimes when someone would die halfway through a dungeon, and I'm like "Well do I keep going without them or go all the way back to town, and then come back and hope they don't die again?"
Anyway just thought I'd put that out there.

I thought this game was....okay. The sprites are gorgeous in battle and look a lot better than, say, fanatic earth or cross hearts arcadia. But in typical magitech form, the dungeon designs are not great. They are long and winding and somewhat confusing. At times you will go off the main path for a treasure that just was not worth it. I'd rather fight two extra battles and buy it at a shop than spend a few minutes going back and forth for something so basic. Plus if you have played other magitech games, get ready for...you guessed it, damage floors and the typical safety boots to negate them. Luckily you do not see them until the last three dungeons. The last dungeons are not as long and winding as the last dungeons in other magitech games (covenant of solitude, looking at you.)
Don't forget, you can buy ANGEL DOWN at the shops maybe halfway through the game which revive and restore about 75% of a characters HP. Before that you have another item which revives and restores 1/2 HP, do not recall the name but that is available pretty early on so you do not need to go to the inn if someone dies.
You can accumulate a decent amount of STP in a normal playthrough. I think I got 54. I used 25 for a wrath card (used in on the second to lass boss, opps) and got 5 items that raise attack and defense by 3 each (25 total points) and have 4 STP left over. The cheapest thing is 5 points though. Even though I used the wrath card on the second to last boss, I did not transform into dragons on that boss so on the last boss I had all characters at 100 AP. I finished the game at LEVEL 55. The last boss provided a decent challenge.

Thanks Travelman. I completely forgot about the revival items - I honestly thought the resurrect spell was the only option.
While I wouldn't rate this as one of the best Kemco games, I do think it's worth playing (especially if peeps can get it on sale, but even at full price it's a good game.)

It is worth playing IMO, ya. But maybe once you have run through the long kemco list of games already. I liked Blood of Calamity (setting and music) or Dead Dragons more as far as magitech games. At least I think those were both magitech games too? Or covenant of solitude too.

I got bored with Dead Dragons (hey, it does happen sometimes), didn't like the dialogue in Blood of Calamity but otherwise the game was okay. Haven't played Solitude but it's on my list.
But I played Shelterra early on (like I'd only played 7 or 8 titles before it). So many games share the same elements, sometimes I think it's a matter of whichever one you play first is the one you like the most (sometimes).
