It was a fun short game.

I played the Playstation version of Wizards of Brandel, on Killer difficulty. Console/PC versions of Wizards of Brandel let the player grind Shop currency through in-game battles AND purchase the rare-gacha-pull Familiar Spirits with maid coins. I took complete advantage of this.

The rare-gacha-pull Familiar Spirit Hot Springs Uriel was my postgame supporter, since she blocks all bad status (other than Fainting Countdown). My other two Familiar Spirits are Rhoda, who joins early and has very useful abilities, and Tiradora, because I like dragons.

Giving all stat-boosting flowers to one character (Darius, in my playthrough) breaks the main game, but doesn't break the optional endgame areas - many optional endgame enemies are viciously strong and require very high stats to get any turns, let alone survive any attack. Winning battles against these enemies often boiled down to "kill them before they kill you". This was particularly troublesome against Metal enemies because I could not find any critical hit-boosting weapons for Darius for a long time. Equipping two Metal Cards was not enough, and when Darius is in the sub position then whoever's in the main position does not benefit from Darius' offensive power, only his defensive power and his Speed.

It took 23 hours to reach the Normal Ending and win all Areans through the first two Secret Arenas. It took 26 1/2 hours to finish all sidequests, all Playstation trophies, and the True Ending, partly because I was dabbling in optional areas and struggling against Metal enemies. It took 38 hours to beat all challenges including the final superboss on Killer difficulty. A lot of that 12 hours was grinding to max out party levels at 999, grinding for money to max out the wizard labs (among other uses), gardening to max out Darius' stats (not including HP), and optimizing the customized enhancements on weapons (no, I did not get anyone's weapon anywhere near +999). It might have gone faster if I'd increased the battle speed to x3 sooner.

An hour of that time was grappling with the final superboss battle on Killer. I had to attempt the fight twice and exploit the broken Limit Break system to win.

Every new game has x3 Battle Speed which I always enable before starting the game since most animations aren't very impressive (If one battle catches my eye I will turn speed down to see it in its original way) and this saves so much time. Also, when grinding I generally remove any animations which speeds up battles even more provided you defeat enemies relatively quickly. In this game I actually had to retreat from battles at early story mode because of Arena restriction I thought existed and luckily I made it just at the right level to not miss any of the rewards. Also since this time I wanted to not be super overpowered I was not doing excessive grind although even without that I was stronger than almost everything. Haste Card in post-game did let me run away from all tough enemies in post-game although I still grinded up heroes to level 370 or so to defeat some post-game Bosses (made a comment while showing how I discovered Limit Break at Maidame Curie fight; even after grinding all stats to max she deletes my team when I didn't use Limit Break).

The game was great although the only thing I did not like was Mark not joining team sooner ? He as a Support is great although Familiar Spirits get higher stats which in turn made Darius team have a third of Health of the other two heroes until stat maxing happened.

P.S : It's sad that unlike Onigo Hunter where every weapon, armor and stuff has unique appearance unlike Brandel but everyone knows by now Swimsuits are the best armors in KEMCO games ??
