Uggg...I've had that happen at my low levels, but at yours, that is a shock.

Question:  I just got a drop of Dragonborn Ring of Vitality, but it looks to me like I should exchange it for Gems.  It has -20 for strength (Warrior) and -15 Speed for Juggernaut, with anywhere from 92-100 vitality increase for any of my party (but huge loss of focus and spirit for spell users, so I know I would not equip them).

Equip it to Warrior. Juggernaut should go for Speed as it affects his damage. Cleric needs Spirit Equipment while Sorcerer wants Focus as the Damage Spells cap at 9900% so the bigger Focus he has, the more Damage he makes with Spells and Poison gets stronger too.

I just defeated my 2nd boss (SE corner of Cinderstorm), Lyris? with no trouble.  The Ragefire weapons, and Juggernaut finally getting near the level of monster helped a lot.  I also used several scrolls so didn't deplete MP.  I think the battle was about 8 turns.

I've returned to Larkwood to do some more grinding.

You'll beat them very easily at level 79 :)

Just reached Level 100 by going into Mines. Got several things that sell for Red Gems.

I thought I'd be able to get Essences here in Chests at level 100 but it seems I need a few more levels..

Good luck with that.  I've never found anything useful in the Larkwood chests.

At higher level (probably 80+) you might find stuff that sells for Blue or red Gems either from Chests or enemies. I'll be planning on using all Gems to boost stats but for now it's useless as I need to actually survive in Cave of the wisp to see the difference.

At least the level 99 Boss of the Mines was the easiest enemy I saw since I got Dragon's Blade. Auto took him down in 4 turns. I suspect the Boss that resides in the Caves of the Wisp will take 50 Turns. But so far I didn't see any Essences, which are crucial as I found both other materials for new equipment.

Wow, I'd sure like the concession stand for resurrection items at that battle!  I hope your sorcerer and cleric haven't read the well known science fiction story "If the Red Slayer."

No, they are too busy getting unconscious to read anything.

I just got 2 Essences of the Wisp, made weapon for Juggernaut and something for Sorcerer. Juggernaut finally deals around 1m damage.

Through the magic of time travel, I have arranged for IBM to provide you WATSON to keep up with the damage he inflicts.  No other super computer would be fast enough.
