I, on the other hand, have done all of this the hard way (aka just blindly leveling my characters without paying any real attention to weapon levels or added effects.)

I finally faced Yurius last night, with my party over level 700. I thought for sure being 200 levels higher than the recommended level would be all I need.

Well, I did beat him, but it took a ridiculously long time because none of my weapons had a high ATK rating. (I think I have one staff with ATK + 300; but all other weapons have +50-100 at best.)

So apparently I need a better understanding of how the weapons work. :P

700!  I'm speechless.

As far as the effects go, I just didn't find them useful for the bosses because they didn't always activate, so losing a turn to (say) Yurius could lead to disaster. Also, I didn't like the tradeoff, as I preferred the certainty of (say) strength or hp to the uncertain effect. Now, if I was sure that I could make Yurius lazy, well, I would have made a weapon for that, but "100%" times a 5% base doesn't help much. I think my post on how I found an easier way to beat Yurius (which essentially is based on your insight from Dogma about the Guild Hero) gives some help. BUT...I enjoy a touch and go battle with uncertain outcome (as long as it is winnable and doesn't take forever), so my first victory over Yurius was much more enjoyable than beating him in two turns. And I really don't like the long battles of attrition where you know that you can win as long as you have enough resources (which sounds like how you bout with Yurius went).

Yes, breaking/enhancing some of the effects was such a low probability (Azyleo and I both had that experience in Revenant) that I gave up. In fact, there might even be a bug in their routine: try breaking an effect with "-" in front of it!

I'm almost done writing my review of the "playability" of "Glorious Savior" as a supplement to your review and Azyleo's. I do include a note about your website in the review (at the end), so you might want to read at least that part.

I always read the reviews, even if I don't always comment on them. :P

I got to 700 by equipping the Demon-call Ring, and staying on one floor of the Hell dungeon as long as I was still going up one level per battle. Then every once in awhile I'd go ten floors up, and start over. But, I did this with really weak weapons, so if my weapons had a higher ATK value it might go faster. (It's literally taken me HOURS to reach this level, so I'm hoping there's an easier way that I just never discovered.)

I found that when I made it to about level 60 in the Hell dungeon I would level up for about every 3 monsters killed (at that time I was around level 300). What you did is about the only path I know about: you keep pounding away until it takes one more turn (say) to level, so then you have to go up a bit in the dungeon. So for me, another 400 levels means at least 400 battles (let's play it safe and call it 500) at about 45 seconds per battle (not counting the time it takes to find the exit, etc.). Now 500x.75 minutes=375 minutes=6.25 hours.....Even at 30 seconds each=4.17 hours. Maybe with some enhancement (wasn't there a sage thing from one of the subquests, and maybe some other skill?) maybe the increase in experience can be increased, but it will still take a LONG time.

Yes, yes it will.

I don't know because I never did grind in Kreisia or games from that long ago, but I think it was about the same. Only the Asdivine games make rapid grinding really easy. :(

One easy way to upgrade (but not exactly fast)

Towards the end of the game, the west side shop in Season Castle opens, and you can buy 2 types of meteorites: Normal small, and Bronze large. If you're grinding in the Fairy Garden money won't be a problem, so whenever you can buy 99 of each type.

Then go east to the Weapon Fairy and upgrade your weapon (the fairy adds a bit more EXP than if you customize the weapon yourself)

It still takes awhile, but if you've got millions of gold it's an effective strategy.

That''s exactly what I did (about 13-14 million per weapon), and I did the same in Dogma.

You might not have my Hi-Fi Grinding weapons, which Have EXP rate 156% added to one and 123% added to another + Overkills + Fever and Viola, Leveling Up per battle 7-10 times :p

Okay I definitely wanna know how you pull that off! :woohoo:

I got two weapons up to +999 (sword for Rain, and staff with God Breath for Viola), went back into the Hell dungeon on the 111th Floor, set the difficulty to Easy and turned on Battle Shortcut, and each battle takes about 5 seconds, and I usually level up after every 2-3 battles. (Although sometimes I must encounter a metal monster, because my EXP is 9999999, and I level up 4-5 times).

In 15 minutes I went from level 718, to 837. And I have 99999999 Gold again, so back to buy more meteorites. :P

Added the Sage spirit (EXP +88, which was high enough for test purposes)

Another 20 minutes = level 999.
Each character has ONE weapon +999.

But my added effects are crap. No STR, INT, SPD at all.

Yurius is still a challenge, so added effects are clearly a MUST. Now off to find weapons with STR/INT, and start breaking them. (Total game time so far - 34 hours.)
