Lowering The Transformation Gauge Percentage

When you use transformations, the gauge goes up a certain percent right? And you have to keep the gauge low enough so you don't go berserk when transformed.

Well, I was fighting this one boss in some forest & the monster used an ability that reflected physical attacks. I had Albert guard while transformed until the effect wore off and I'm almost his transformation gauge dropped from like 30% to 1%.

So my question is, does guarding while transformed lower the percentage of the transformation gauge or is it something else?

I can't remember but I believe the in-game manual will tell you all about lowering the gauge.

I didn't like random encounter so when I played this I ran away from most of random encounters. Underleveled yet I couldn't use guard while in transformed state since I couldn't risk a permanent swoon. I always detransformed whenever I had a chance.

Yes guarding does that even when you not transformed.
