Where on the world map is the mysterious cave because I’ve explored everywhere and haven’t seen a place called mysterious cave?

You get there through one of the cells in the basement of Next Castle.

While grinding up to make Suzaku, I've been filling holes in my monster dex but cant figure out how to make a Dark Goblin. Even though I have a Goblin Mage with 4 Dark it won't fuse to make the Dark Goblin. What am I missing? When it says [Dark] that is referring to the element right?

There's no way to complete Pal List until Post-game, so don't worry about making every monster possible at this point. Focus on making Suzaku (you need to create it once to get something you will need, but once created, can be used to power up your Team if you don't want to use it in team.)

Yes, Sword Goblin + a Dark-Type Goblin monster should result in a Dark Goblin.
