There are also gold regions, but unless someone posts a worldmap, I would not be able to tell you where they are.
(And honestly, that is much slower than just using a Curio).
An alternative is using Gold Rings. ...In fact, if you are wanting gold to improve rings, you might want to finish gold arena first, that'll unlock very good rings for maid coins.
You should also sell Lodestones if you get them. Sell every weapon which does have a "plus" unless you plan in using it, and make sure to improve weapons you actually use with these others, and you should stop needing money. If you use the seeds, you might be able to dismiss the need of upgrading armors as well.
(Money is only limiting in early game, and in mid game if you are in a high difficulty)
