Is feature the right word? I have no idea haha

For some reason, I really love the thing that Machine Knight and a few other games have, of finding treasures in barrels, bookshelves, just basically finding stuff in random objects in the environment. Maybe some crafting mechanic too? But that bit is optional ig

Any suggestions for more Kemco (or other) games that have this? I've played only Machine Knight and Bonds of the Skies that has this >.<

Yeah, I always think something's missing if a JRPG doesn't have such a feature of hiding/finding hidden objects in jars, barrels and so on.

Sadly, that excludes all games made by Exe Create: When you're supposed to find something in these games (like quest items), these objects always shine brighter than the sun. These items aren't really hidden, since the players are supposed to easily find these "supernovas".

Some Exe Create games feature rudimentary crafting mechanics, but it's never much beyond combining two pieces of equipment.

I don't know about the games made by the other developers under Kemco's wing, but I'm sure there are at least some Hit-Point experts here in this forum.

Sorry for the double post, but I just remembered something important. Among the Exe Create games, there's one noticeable exception: Dragon Sinker. This game even keeps track of the 666 objects that you can inspect throughout your playthrough for various benefits. Unfortunately, other games of Exe Create's "8-bit series" (Dragon Lapis, Alvastia Chronicles) don't retain this feature (I haven't played Dragon Prana yet, but I guess it's the same there).

Crystareino has this. Fortuna Magus (and maybe Silver Nornir) to a lesser extent. I am not sure, but most non Exe Create should have it.

I mean finding objects. Crafting is mostly seen on Exe Create. Not recalling both at once but then been a while

Kemco games by developer Hit-Point tend to use a crafting system. These forums have a handy list of Hit-Point games at

Not all Hit-Point games have crafting. Archlion Saga and Everdark Tower don't, because they're part of the simplified, ultra-short "Pocket RPG" series. I can't recommend these games. They're each about 2 hours long.

Bonds of the Skies, Machine Knight, and Crystareino are all Hit-Point games. I felt that Bonds of the Skies was pretty mediocre, so if you liked it, then Hit-Point's general RPG formula probably appeals to you.

Multiple people on these forums like Crystareino. I only got a little way into the 3DS versions of Crystareino and Machine Knight; I plan go back to them at some point. Both games made a good impression. It's just that Hit-Point games can get sort of grindy, and they have only one difficulty selection, so turning down the difficulty to Easy isn't an option like it is for Exe-Create games.

I greatly enjoyed Mystic Chronicles and Justice Chronicles. The crafting system is important in both games. As of this writing, the only officially available English release of Mystic Chronicles is on the Vita, but with the recent re-release of Justice Chronicles on multiple platforms, that may change. Even though Mystic Chronicles is the first game of the duology, you can play Justice Chronicles first without any problems; the story connections aren't major.

Two other Hit-Point games that folks on these forums like are Monochrome Order and Legend of the Tetrarchs. I don't know whether they have crafting systems, but I would think it's likely.

One Hit-Point game to stay away from is Chronus Arc. The story is just bad, and the gameplay is beyond grindy even by Hit-Point standards.

I don't know much about Kemco games about developers other than Exe-Create and Hit-Point. The World Wide Software games I've played (End of Serenity and Symphony of Eternity) didn't fit your description. Neither did the only Magitec game I've played, Grinsia.

If you're going this way, I think both Monochrome Order and Legends of the Tetratchs fit the bill, I guess. I do not really know if "upgrading" counts as crafting.

I prefer WWS games, but they're a mixed bag ─ some are good, some are bad, some are short, some are long, some are nice, some are boring, some are... You get the idea. They could have been made by different devs for all I know about, there's no consistency whatsoever.

Magitec strong point is story. I don't recall crafting in any such game, but there's upgrading and stuff in Chrome Wolf for example. And the item thingy you asked. Been so long since I played it that I honestly do not remember anymore. They have more consistency than WWS, but I don't think Grinsia is a good example of what they usually do. Ah, iirc Shelterra do NOT have crafting but I could be wrong as usual.

Ooh, thank you for that suggestion! I've played Dragon Sinker once, but it was so long ago that I might've forgotten about that feature being in it >.<

(Welp, time to play it again then xD)

I mainly played it to satisfy my itch for more Machine Knight after replaying it a couple of times lol, it did sate the itch for awhile so it probably does haha

Oh, I didn't notice, I'll keep that in mind then, thanks for the forewarning!
