Vague spoilers mentioned

so I have reached the “fusion” boss fight, but I feel like I’m seriously not ready...

So could anybody give me tips?

Here’s what I have right now:

-Fairy weapons

-Obsidian armor

-Fuji shard, X-Heal shard, Therapy shard, and Fire Strike shard

-I have 14 magic chips available

-I’m lvl 60

I realize the original question was posted years ago, but for anyone else who might be having trouble, level 60 is a little low for the True End final boss, especially on higher difficulties. (The game's difficulty can be changed at any time, which can be helpful for level grinding - killing Metal Fish is easier on lower difficulties.)

The fastest and easiest way to prepare to go to the island of Metal Fish (it's in the center of the map and shaped like a fish, with a lower area accessible by boat and a higher area accessible by airship) and fight Metal Fish for some quick levels. Wearing the Fragrant Vest to force encounters with every step will speed this up; the Shop sells the Fragrant Vest for 200 quartz.

The lower area has Metal Fish that are weaker, but also easier to kill. Metal Fish can petrify the party, so bring softeners. There are no ultra hard monsters on this island; just different types of Metal Fish.

Metal Fish take 1 damage from almost everything but a critical hit (Gantz eventually gets a move that does fixed damage to them). Lucca can use a midgame weapon with an armament drive that raises critical hit chance against Metal Fish. Lucca, Clara, and Gantz get access to armament-drive-critical-hit weapons from the Fairy Villa after the fairy Tinker is recruited.

Of course, it's also worthwhile to use tickets or buy weapons from any shop and use those weapons to raise Izen's stats. I strongly recommend prioritizing Izen's speed, so he can get more turns. Unfortunately, Izen doesn't have many options to raise his critical hit chance; he's pretty bad at killing Metal Fish.

When fighting the final boss, be aware that only the main boss has to be defeated. Both of the boss' helpers automatically disappear when the main boss is vanquished.
