Alright... So I'm planning to do a Freemium run on this game. You guys have been here longer than me, so is it worth it to play this game? And is there anything I have to look out for? Some tips is welcome too.

Thanks in advance

I only played the beginning of Heirs to the Kings because I couldn't figure out how its skill trees worked. I tried putting some points into the skill trees and the points just disappeared with no record or benefit that I could see. There has to be something I'm missing, and the game didn't capture my interest enough to figure it out or study a guide.

The setting is bog-standard fantasy and the plot is bog-standard save-the-world. The standout feature of Heirs to the Kings is that it's Exe-Create's attempt to create an "open world" game - the player can choose what order to approach the world and its dungeons.

I intend to try it again one day, but that might not be for years given my video game backlog. When I do try Heirs to the Kings again, I'll probably play it on Normal or Easy. The early game on Expert was doable but a little grindy, and I'm not convinced Heirs  to the Kings is worth extra grinding.

I concur with Victar's opinion. "Heirs of the Kings" is one of Exe Create's games from the, what I like to call, "mediocre era" between 2016 and 2019, like "Fairy Elements" or "Onigo Hunter", which are all similar in design and not bad, but also not really good.

Maximum level is 99. All level-ups beyond level 99 only grant SP (skill points), which can be used on the Final Fantasy X like "sphere grids" (skill trees). By then, though, you've filled out all stats-related entries. You can also level up skills on the skill trees by using SP, but the success rate is greatly reduced unless you use a rare item (from the in-game shop) or wait for the timer to run out (1 hour after the respective - or any? - party member's skill has been leveled up before, if I remember correctly). Realistically speaking, maxing out (all) skills isn't feasible - and not necessary, anyway.

The story is okay, and the same applies to the difficulty (you can't really max stats, but there isn't any need to attempt that feat, anyway). Buying the pay-to-shortcut DLCs, especially the "damage x 2" DLC, makes the game significantly easier. I think the game is worth your time if you like Exe Create's games in general, but the game isn't as good as some classics from the past or most games from 2020 on (the "we ramped up our efforts" era).

[/quote]What do you mean by... Success Rate? There's a success rate for skill level up?

My memory about it is hazy. You can upgrade the nodes on stat-skill grid. Initial lv is 100% but upgrade cost more points, could fail and have time cooldown.
