Asdivine Cross General Discussion
This is a general question, but I thought about it in the context of prepping to battle Dominator on Hard. Does the "critical" effect apply only to physical attacks? My strategy to beat Dominator on Easy wasn't well planned (sorry Azyleo, I didn't understand why you advocated VIT and INT, but now I do). As I use primarily magic, and also need some defense, I'm dropping my 100% strength and building up INT and VIT, but also thinking about CRITICAL.

Those bonus boxes I mentioned were not random. It was like, I hit let's say level 300, then save, went to nublet area and the next battle gave me bonus box with fixed rewards. I repeated the same progress and it still did the same.[/quote]
Ok I tried again grinding from 750 to 999 from a previous save file. Still with Box Jewel equipped. I got 1 bonus box at lv 800 and one at lv 900, and that was it.
It sure seemed like I was getting a lot more, but maybe that's because I went up 100 levels (from 130 up) every 5 minutes or so. I would've swore they were random but apparently not.
After reaching lv 999 I went through Legendary Sewers on 2x encounter rate, and never got a single bonus box. But I still haven't done Timewarp Tower, so don't know if that's any different.
Next play through I'll have to watch the boxes much closer.
Thanks Kiriee. Hope all the confusion around this can get sorted out.

I finished everything last night (on Easy difficulty). It seemed like the Timewarp Tower was too short for 300 ACP, but it was kind of a neat addition. Legendary Sewers seemed to be far more complicated.
Oh well I didn't do everything - I skipped the last round of the secret arena, the gazillion challenge and the training accelerator. But I'm satisfied with what I've done. Now I'm ready to start the location walkthrough. B)

( Bonus boxes were most certainly random for me, but hey, I maybe wrong )
Good Job on doing everything in the game. Looking forward to see the Location Walkthrough.
As for Oldtymers Answer ( he deleted the question, but I will still answer it ):
Critical works for both Physical and Magical. I said INT because his Physical Defense is way to high, and 100% INT on even Harvey can prove deadly. Then I just spammed Magma Raid ( Yes, I know it misses, but not as much as you think ). He was dead in 5 minutes, and without it being able to get his second hit in ( because Paralysis ).

Well, I have 100% or close on almost everything you mentioned: crit (which I don't use), int, vit, spd, hp restore (which really helps), str (which I don't use) at least. I find hp restore, int (because I use magic rather than skills), spd, and vit to be what works for me. I set my max vit in the back row and make that character the leader.
I keep a few extra weapons kicking around with different 100 effects in case I would need to change tactics.
Thanks for the answer about critical--I was never sure if it worked on magic.

I have a question about the skills to be learned from the random/interrupt black box (Gold Level, Easy).
Well, I don't know what to make of what I am seeing. Here are the first few skills I came across fighting the black box on easy in the gold cup:
divine power
punishment
ultimate inferno
assasinate
proto tail
reflect
seasonal disarray
believe in miracles
These aren't listed in my enemy guide (which in fact never changes from the 4 that were put there the first time I defeated the black box). And more important, they are not all listed in the fantastic enemy guide here on RPG Insanity.
I'm guessing that the black box in fact deals out semi-random skills, perhaps choosing from a restricted list. I remember a few others as well before I started taking notes. The skills do show in Lucile's list of skills learned (before I save, during the battle).
As I see no end here, I will cease exploring, at least for now. If somebody comes up with a theory that makes sense, I will be happy to continue the process: win with one hit the first two battles, then kill off the other monsters on screen, then use my one skill bag to learn a skill, examine it in Lucile's list, then break out of the game and reload so that I can repeat with my skill bag. Slow going, obviously.
So if anybody has some insight as to how the black box works, it might be good if we create a separate topic for that.

1oldtymer, you're using skill bags? From my experience, the skill you learn with those is any unlearned skill from any enemy. The skill I got didn't seem to have anything at to do with the enemies I was battling. Could this be what is happening with the black box?
