Simplest Kemco RPG

General chat about Kemco games, that's not specific to in-game help.

I’d love to play a simple RPG. Like Dragon Quest 3, or Gailardia or Tenmillion. I don’t want a massive crafting system or a catch-em-all whatever. Just 3-5 heroes, maybe some jobs, and a bunch of quests. What’s the best simple Kemco game for something like that?

To clarify, I’m wondering if there’s a game that doesn’t have skill trees, or crafting mechanics, or a zillion characters, or lots of other extraneous stuff. Just the core heroes, leveling up and buying/finding gear.

Archlion Saga, Everdark Tower are basically games you can "walkthrough" in a short time. Both Kemco Pocket-sized games that fit criteria of "not a huge world with lots of sidequests".

Oh, I don't mind big worlds and side quests. It's more the complex party mechanics that I'm trying to avoid. That's something I really enjoyed about Tenmillion RPG. I tried Everdark Tower, and it was not my cup-of-tea. I'll take a look at Archlion. Someone else recommended Covenant of Solitude, so I'll also look into that.

Well, Our site has some non-KEMCO games mentioned, but from what I know, most KEMCO games (and, with exception of Archlion Saga which will most likely disappoint you) have huge worlds, different titles may showcase different mechanics.

I can try to find or remember non-KEMCO games that are simple.

Warlord Revival.

Few both Story and Side quest (not even exceed 30)
No skill-trees whatsoever, straight to the point Magics.
Set in Japan
Story is not complex to understand
Japanese Samurai characters
My journey to end the darkness ends up losing someone I loved. Now I realized that there's no victorious in either sides. It's all about the casualties it caused...

I've only played Exe Create games from Kemco's catalogue so far, but most of them focus on a few select heroes so that you don't have to switch out party members.

Since you mentioned "Dragon Quest 3" and job systems, you should check out Exe Create's 8-bit style games, namely "Dragon Sinker", "Alvastia Chronicles", "Dragon Lapis" and "Dragon Prana" (the latter one being mobile-only at this point).

As for Exe Create's classic old-school JRPGs without "feature creep", some of their older games may provide what you're looking for, like "Alphadia Genesis" and "Alphadia Genesis 2", "Illusion of L'Phalcia" or "Liege Dragon".

Maybe Ruinverse? If I remember correctly, it has zero crafting and a linear skill system. Although it does have a tree whose fruits are used to upgrade skills :)
